The originally thought Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG was finally unveiled in the Paris Motor Show. However, the car now sports a new name, which is Mercedes-AMG C63. It is the second car to adopt solely the “Mercedes-AMG” name—dropping the “Mercedes-Benz” moniker—following the GT sports coupe.

As reported earlier, the car shares the same engine with the Mercedes-AMG GT. A 4.0-liter biturbo V8 replaces the outgoing Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG’s 6.2-liter naturally aspirated engine.

The new Mercedes-AMG C63 features two engine options. The standard model has a downsized output of 469 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. On the other hand, the Mercedes-AMG C63 S possesses a power equal to 503 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque.

According to the data released by the German automaker, the new C63 can go from zero to 60 mph in a span of 4 seconds. The C63 S is capable of sprinting from zero to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds.

Each version is equipped with a seven-speed paddle-shifted automatic gearbox. The company noted though that the new C63’s improved hardware and software now allows a quicker shifting.

Going to the exterior and interior of the C63, one will immediately notice some shades of the latest C-Class. However, AMG has added some of its unique styling elements in the mix. The front and rear fascia each benefited from the performance division’s aggressive design. Then, the interior were fitted with sporty steering wheel, carbon-weave trim, and redesigned seats.

Sources stated the successor of the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG will only be available in its sedan form. The car is expected to be rolled out to consumers by March next year.
