Mercedes-AMG C63 S Coupe Vs Alfa Romeo Giulia QV in a Drag Race

Which one wins if you pit the Mercedes-AMG C63 S Coupe against the Alfa Romeo Giulia QV in a drag race? The guys at Motor1 Turkey recently took both high-performance cars on the race track to find out the answer to this question.

The cars featured in the video include a gray AMG C63 S Coupe and a sky blue Giulia QV. The cars were fitted with Pirelli P Zero tires but the Mercedes had wider tires, measuring 0.4-inches more than the Alfa Romeo car. On the other hand, the Giulia QV benefits from carbon-ceramic brakes that are light and offer better performance during braking.

Beneath the hood of the AMG C63 S Coupe is a 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine with an output of 503 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, the Giulia QV is equipped with a 2.9-liter dual-turbo V6 engine that is good for 505 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque.

The numbers allow the Merc to go from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds. As for the Alfa, its configuration lets it achieve the same feat in only 3.6 seconds.

Both cars were put to the test on a series of 400-meter runs to see how they would fare against each other. The first race saw the Mercedes emerge victorious due to its launch control playing a big part at the get-go. Due to an argument that sprung on whether the C-Class driver started early or it was only the launch control doing its job, the race was restarted where the Giulia QV triumphed. The tie-breaker stage went to the Benz though.

The guys went on to do a 1000-meter race, which the AMG C63S Coupe won again. However, the rolling start showed the Giulia QV beating the Merc. The last portion of the video was a brake test wherein the Merc showed its better braking performance, beating the Alfa by 2 meters.

It was definitely a nice race because the two just went back and forth at the different stages of the race. What everyone can agree on, however, is that both cars are truly impressive, and it was fun to watch them.
