The Mercedes-AMG A45 S already has the distinction of having the most powerful stock four-cylinder engine in the world. Wanting to squeeze more out of it, RaceChip gave it a boost and took it for a cruise on the autobahn.
In its factory-fresh form, the AMG 45 S produces 416 hp and 369 lb-ft torque. That’s already good for a 0 to 62 mph run in just four seconds.
Before the tuning process, the guys at RaceChip reviewed the performance of the high-performance hatchback. They praised the responsive engine of the car as well as its turbochargers. They were not that impressed with the engine sound of the auto though, which came short to their expectations compared to its previous model.
To get more power out of the AMG A45 S, RaceChip tuned the car to offer up to 484 hp and 399 lb-ft of torque. The dyno test showed that the car produces 400 hp at the wheels, which means a driveline decrease of 17.74 percent. After that, the guys took the vehicle to the autobahn to test its actual performance on the road. From there, the best time of the auto from a 62 to 124 mph run was a mind-blowing 9.16 seconds.
The installation of the tuning kit takes around 35 to 40 minutes, and it comes with 699 euros price tag ($811 based on Google conversion). If the 68 hp and 30 lb-ft torque upgrade are too much for your liking, the company also offers a 58 hp and 24 lb-ft torque increase for 399 euros ($463).
