Mercedes-AMG A35 Spied at the Nurburgring Endurance Track

The much-awaited Mercedes-AMG A35 was recently spied doing its rounds at the Nurburgring endurance track in Germany. The hatchback was previously mistaken as the more powerful variant of the A45 dubbed as the “A45 S”—following the current nomenclature system of Mercedes. However, the source of the video and the interview of Tobias Moers indicate that the unit may be the A35.

According to Automotive Mike, the one who uploaded the new Mercedes spy video on YouTube, the A-Class shown in the four-second clip is the A35. The rounded exhaust tips of the hatch give it away as the A35 because the range-topping AMG models usually get the square-shaped exhaust tips.

The source also claimed that the AMG A35 will get the new 2.0-liter turbo inline-four engine, which is also on its way to the new A45. The power unit of the A35 is detuned to deliver a lower output than the upcoming A45 though.

The A35 is estimated to produce around 335 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque. The A35 aims to fill the performance gap between the Mercedes-Benz A220 and Mercedes-AMG A45 models. Meanwhile, the new A45’s power will likely increase to 400 hp or more.

Mercedes-AMG A35 Model Confirmed

AMG CEO Tobias Moers already confirmed the development of the A35 in his interview last April. He said that the car will boast an output of around 300 hp.

There were no details about the possible debut of the A35 model. We are expecting it to make its world premiere in Paris by October or in Los Angeles by December this year.
