The Mercedes-Benz G500 4×4² possesses the M178 engine powering the Mercedes-AMG GT. This gives the SUV an output of 416 hp with 450 lb-ft of torque. The power is distributed through all four wheels of the vehicle via a seven-speed automatic transmission gearbox with a manual shifting mode. These factors allow the big Mercedes to accelerate from zero to 60 mph in only 5.7 seconds. Then its top speed could reach up to 130 mph. That’s certainly a lot for a G-Class.
So far the G500 4×4² does not have an AMG version yet. We have no word too whether Mercedes will offer a more powerful version of it. However, a good news to those who wish to have a 4×4² with a bigger engine can just buy the G63 AMG and visit the tuners at Mcchip-DKR.
According to Motorward, the tuner released a new package that would give the G63 AMG a 4×4² treatment. The package benefits from the Mc800 kit of the firm, which provides the 5.5-liter biturbo V8 engine of the vehicle an output of 820 hp and nearly 738 lb-ft of torque. The same kit also allows the SUV to reach an electronically-limited speed of 150 mph.
Next, it is equipped with a bespoke KW DDC suspension system and its axles are adjusted higher. Wheels and tires from the G63 AMG 6×6 are fitted to the unit as well to complete its transformation.
