With the first testing scheduled for F1 in Jerez, new team driver Lewis Hamilton jetted into Germany to get a taste of what it means to be at the spearhead of Mercedes motorsports. First stop was the AMG facility in Affalterbach, where Hamilton got a personally guided tour courtesy of Ola Kallenius, AMG head. At the factory, Lewis also did a meet and greet with employees, aside from being shown the engine works, where AMG’s jewel-like customer engines are crafted.
Part of Lewis’ swing through the Mercedes empire included a visit to the Mercedes Museum, where Lewis saw a century’s worth of not just cars, but also automotive history. Part of the tour saw Hamilton in the hall where Mercedes’ Grand Prix winners were displayed. We, of course can’t say what went through his mind as he saw that historical parade of winner’s cars. All we can be sure of though is that the pressure to perform and finish first could only have increased.
