CarPooling.com, the world’s largest ridesharing network that has 4 million registered users is now in a partnership with Daimler.
This strategic partnership combines the knowledge of two major players in the mobility industry. Daimler, having 126 years of expertise in car manufacturing and development, also became a market leader in rental car models with car2go which is now serving over 130,000 customers. Meanwhile, carpooling.com has platform on the Internet, smartphone apps and Facebook and they have successfully brought together ride-sharers for medium and long distance trips.
The aim of the partnership is to expand carpooling.com’s platform and integrate their offers with Daimler’s mobility solutions.
“We are very pleased that we were able to attract Daimler as an investor. As a leading automotive player Daimler will serve as a strong partner in further establishing the role of modern carpooling in Europe and overseas. We will be utilizing the new capital to further improve our offerings, broaden our customer service and make carpooling available to even more users worldwide,”said Markus Barnikel, CEO of carpooling.com.
On the other hand, Daimler’s head of Business Innovation, Wilfried Steffen said, “We view ridesharing as an important element of intelligently networked mobility. Our engagement in carpooling.com is a logical step in offering our customers an even wider range for getting from Point A to Point B.” He added, “We are pleased that this strategic partnership will enable us to support carpooling.com’s growth and further development.”
