One of a Kind 1981 Mercedes-Benz 380 SL is Getting Auctioned

A one of a kind, four-decade-old Mercedes-Benz 380 SL Roadster that has been altered beyond recognition is hitting the auction block in Las Vegas this June. The classic car hitting the Barrett-Jackson event was formerly owned by the legendary singer Wayne Newton. The 1981 SL Roadster is highlighted by the extensive exterior overhaul done by Niko-Michael Coachworks that makes it less boxy than its original form. Its upgrades include an elegant black paint finish, reworked headlamps, swooping rear profile, added air vents near the front fenders, a smaller black front grille, new bumpers, and a new Mercedes logo. Gold embellishments also adorn the car’s coach lines, wheel spokes, and three-pointed… Continue Reading »

Mercedes-Benz SLK Takes a Bow with SLC Final Edition Model

The Mercedes-Benz SLC Final Edition is here! The new model marks the end of an era for the car formerly known as the Mercedes-Benz SLK when it was introduced in 1996. The SLC is Mercedes’ smallest two-seater roadster, so the end of its production means that it will leave a void in that category. Well, that’s not until the German automaker releases another small roadster to fill in the gap in the foreseeable future. So far, there are no official statements of what the carmaker has in store for the model’s successor. The SLC Final Edition can be ordered starting today, and deliveries for it will commence in March. The… Continue Reading »

Mercedes-Benz SL: One of the Longest Surviving Car Models in the World

The Mercedes-Benz SL is the three-pointed star marque’s oldest model to date that is being produced until now. Introduced in 1954, the SL is one of the longest surviving car models in the world today. The name “SL” stands for “Sportlich-Leicht” or “Sport Lightweight”. Max Hoffman, a luxury vehicle importer based in New York during the post-war period, was the one who pitched the idea of a toned-down Gran Prix car that aimed to attract performance car enthusiasts. The first to be produced in the range was the 300 SL Gullwing. The 1954 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing came with a 3.0-liter inline-six engine with 212 hp, which was quite impressive for its… Continue Reading »

Porsche Aficionado Magnus Walker Drives The Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing

It’s not every day you’ll get to see Magnus Walker in a Mercedes-Benz but if he has to drive one, it better be the pristine Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing. Walker, also known as the Urban Outlaw, would normally drive his Porsche 911 in the Rally. Not this year, though. He took the wheel from Daimler themselves and drove the 300 SL Gullwing around the finest Alpine roads of Austria, which he is visiting for the first time. But aside from Austrian roads, Walker also took the… Continue Reading »

Rare and Untouched Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster and Gullwing For Sale

The Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster and Gullwing are definitely two timeless beauties. That’s why these have high demand from car collectors. Recently, both models were advertised for auction at Artcurial Motorcars. The most impressive thing about these rare finds was that they were in good running condition and virtually untouched with their very low mileage. There were no record of the two showing that they underwent any form of restoration. Both classic SL units were owned Gunnar Giermark, a Swedish dental surgeon and car collector. When he died in 2011, he left no heir under his name so the cars are now in the care of the Swedish Inheritance Fund. The… Continue Reading »
