It is known that BMW and Mercedes-Benz are the two brands that occupy the top of the luxury car segment, followed closely by Lexus. What’s not very well known, however, is that BMW owners pay more for their car insurance compared to their Mercedes-Benz counterparts.
According to a recent Automobile.com survey, BMW owners pay 25 percent more on average for their vehicles’ insurance. A particular example cited in a press release for the survey results showed that the C-Class on average costs $997.63 annually, while it costs $1067.06 for the competing BMW 3 Series.
“We have seen some interesting comparison data come out of these insurance studies,” said Automobile.com columnist Andrew Evans. “In this current economic climate, a potential savings in the ball park of twenty-five percent on insurance premiums each year can have an especially large impact on financial decisions.”
For prospective buyers of luxury cars, it wouldn’t hurt to do a little bit of research when it comes to car insurance. Looking for resources and even reviews on various insurance firms such as Liberty car insurance can go a long way towards ensuring that you’ll get the most coverage without paying too much for your premiums.
