A Look at the Six Trims and Power of the New Mercedes-Benz E-Class

The new Mercedes-Benz E-Class saloon and estate are due to arrive in dealerships by June this year. The E-Class has six trims, including an AMG version.

According to Daimler, the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class has a starting price of 44,863 euros. It will be available in E 200 d, E 220 d, E 220 d 4MATIC, E 300 d, E 400 d 4MATIC, and AMG E 53 4MATIC trims upon launch in Europe.

Here is a rundown of their key mechanical specs:

Mercedes-Benz E 200 d

As the “d” in its name implies, the vehicle is powered by diesel. Within its hood is a 2.0-liter inline-four with 150 hp and 360 Nm of torque. The figures allow an acceleration from 0-100 km/h in just 8.4 seconds for the saloon and 8.7 seconds for the heavier estate. The electronically-limited top speeds of the saloon and estate are 224 km/h and 217 km/h respectively.

Mercedes-Benz E 220 d

The E 220 d has the same engine as the E 200 d. The output is cranked up to 194 hp and 400 Nm of torque. The 0-100 km/h sprint of the saloon and estate are 7.3 seconds and 7.7 seconds, respectively. The saloon has a max speed of 240 km/h and the wagon has 235 km/h.

Mercedes-Benz E 220 d 4MATIC

With the addition of the 4MATIC drivetrain to the E 220 d, the saloon of the range can do a 0-100 km/h run in 7.5 seconds while the estate can accomplish that in 7.8 seconds.

Mercedes-Benz E 300 d

Still carrying the inline-four engine with the same displacement as the lower trims, the car is capable of 245 hp and 500 Nm of torque. That takes the 0-100 km/h acceleration of the saloon and estate at 6.2 seconds and 6.5 seconds, respectively. The electronically-limited top speed of the trim is 250 km/h.

Mercedes-Benz E 400 d 4MATIC

The E 400 d 4MATIC gets a 3.0-liter inline-six engine. The power of the trim is at 340 hp and 700 Nm of torque. The figures propel the saloon from 0-100 km/h in mere 4.9 seconds and the estate at 5.1 seconds. The speed of the trim can reach up to 250 km/h.

Mercedes-AMG E 53 4MATIC+

The AMG E 53 4MATIC+ possesses a 3.0-liter inline-six, too. As the range-topping trim, its combustion power unit packs 435 hp and 520 Nm of torque. The EQ Boost mated to the engine adds 22 hp and 250 Nm of torque distributed via an AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G transmission. The AMG E 53 can do a 0-100 km/h dash in 5 seconds with 250 km/h speed cap.

The E-Class sedan and wagon will probably offer the E 300, E 400 4MATIC and AMG 53 4MATIC+ trims in North America. However, the cars will probably skip the diesel engines in favor of a petrol-powered unit with a reworked output.
