Mercedes-AMG G63 Gets Remade Into A Convertible

One tuner in Germany just unveiled a new version of the Mercedes-AMG G63 that we never knew we have always wanted. Some even think that this convertible rendition of the iconic G-Class should’ve been the direction that Maybach went for instead of going for the mixed-bag Landaulet variant.

Exterior

The Mercedes-AMG G63 convertible in question is the work of Refined Marques. Its canvas is a two-door G-Class with panels sourced from the modern-day AMG G63. The top is cut off in favor of a red vinyl soft roof and the rear is equipped with custom suicide doors. According to the specialist, the original plan was to go for regular door opening but company Chief Executive Ahed Al Bakry opted for the unorthodox design for ease of entry and exit of the passengers.

There are choices for the exterior color of the custom AMG G63 but the one shown in the majority of the photos here is covered in China Blue. Alongside the unit is a white variety, which appears to be reserved for the Benz trim of the G-Wagen.

Interior

The cabin reveals an interior wrapped in posh red leather with diamond stitching and China blue highlights on the seat covers and side panes. It also comes with all the amenities of the present G-Class. These include the large screens in the instrument cluster and central display as well as turbine-inspired air-conditioning vents.

Powertrain of the Mercedes-AMG G63 Convertible

The G-Class conversion retains the engine of the AMG G 63. As a reminder, the factory-fresh version of the SUV is fitted with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with 577 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque.

All that power goes to a permanent all-wheel drive system and is distributed via a nine-speed automatic transmission. This launches the auto from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds.

Pricing for the Mercedes-AMG G63 Convertible

The special Mercedes-AMG G63 build of Refined Marques is only limited to 20 samples. Each unit comes with a sticker price of $1.3 million.
