Here’s A Glimpse Of The Upcoming Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet
Giancarlo Perlas July 6, 2023Mercedes-Benz has taken the wraps off the stunning CLE Cabriolet together with its coupe counterpart earlier, offering car enthusiasts a glimpse of its forthcoming top-down masterpiece. This highly anticipated model is set to make its own debut in the market after the release of its hardtop sibling, the CLE Coupe. With a power-folding soft top, the convertible is set to continue the legacy of the C-Class and E-Class Cabriolets with a touch of modern sophistication.
Luxurious Interior Design and Cutting-Edge Technology
Mercedes does not reveal much about the specs of the CLE Cabriolet after it was spotted together with the CLE Coupe in an earlier series of photos. However, it’s no rocket science that it will probably share a lot of the mechanical specs found in its coupe sibling for practicality’s sake.
Based on the photos of the auto found on Motor1, its lavish interior shares similarities with the CLE Coupe. As shown there, the convertible version features a stunning red leather upholstery that extends to the seats and door panels, perfectly complementing the soft top.
Additionally, the cabin boasts a free-standing monitor in the center, a fully digital instrument cluster, and sleek gloss black capacitive touch buttons on the steering wheel. These elements combine to create a futuristic and immersive driving experience.
Power and Performance Options to Suit Every Driver
According to MBUSA, the US-bound version of the CLE Coupe offers a base engine choice of a 2.0-liter turbocharged powertrain. Paired with an integrated starter generator and a nine-speed automatic gearbox, this engine delivers an impressive output of 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. For those seeking more excitement, the range-topping CLE 450 4Matic features a 3.0-liter inline-six engine that generates 375 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque.
European customers will have the option of a diesel engine with the CLE 220d. This model is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine that produces 197 hp, exclusively powering the rear wheels.
Furthermore, there are indications that the three-pointed star marque has plans to introduce the AMG CLE53 in the US market. This high-performance variant will be equipped with a 3.0-liter engine, similar to the GLE 53, delivering an impressive 429 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque.
All these are expected to be carried over to the CLE Cabriolet later on.
