Renntech Gives the 1992 Mercedes-Benz S-Class a Restomod

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class has undergone a lot of transformations and name changes over seven generations. However, one thing’s for sure, it remains the flagship car of the three-pointed star marque.

Like its predecessors, the 1992 Mercedes-Benz 600 SEL S76R (W140) is an overengineered car packing a lot of advanced tech for its time. While its beauty has remained timeless, most of its tech has aged poorly though, and that is where the new restomod program of Renntech definitely fits in.

The project of the Florida-based tuner includes a series of performance and design enhancements for the 1992 S-Class to retain its beauty while making it at par with the modern iterations of the model. The new features of the restomod are as follows:

Performance

Taking the adage “there’s no replacement for displacement”, Renntech bored and stroked the 6.0-liter M120 V12 engine of the 1992 S-Class to raise it to 7.6-liters. Then, it’s combined with the ECU Performance Tune of the specialist to turn the 402 hp and 428 lb-ft of torque output of the auto into a whopping 615 hp and 703 lb-ft.

The power-up is complemented by a new exhaust system with new sport catalytic converters and custom quad mufflers. Meanwhile, the braking power of the vehicle is managed via new carbon ceramic disks, new AMG pistons, and more advanced ABS with emergency brake pressure.

Design

Being a restomod, the 1992 S-Class only sports subtle body updates, which are limited to new front splitter, side skirts, boot lid spoiler with a third brake light, and Renntech’s 3-piece forged wheels. Meanwhile, the interior also takes custom upholstery, adjustable rear seats, and carbon fiber trim.
