2022 Mercedes-AMG SL Stripped of Camo in New Rendering

Giancarlo Perlas August 2, 2021

A new rendering of the 2022 Mercedes-AMG SL was recently released based on the official hints of its maker and spy shots of its production model going around online since last year. This may be the most accurate render of the auto so far.

The latest spy shots of the AMG SL already showed the car’s sleek bodywork that combines the smoother surfaces of the new Mercedes models, the signature outline of the outgoing SL, and the latest AMG GT. The new model also sports the same electronic pop-up door handles found in the new S-Class.

Since the development of the SL is now solely in the hands of AMG, it is expected to be more like the GT. With that, it is set to get a wide Panamericana front grille, thin lights, wide air vents on the side of the front bumper, rear diffuser, and quad exhausts. It adds running boards on the sides too.

Unlike the GT, the SL will be adopting a more luxurious interior with 2+2 seating, Nappa leather and microsuede seat covers, multi-control steering wheel, 12.3-inch digital cluster, and 11.9-inch adjustable central touchscreen console. The latest MBUX infotainment system will help the occupants manage the various comfort, safety, navigation, and entertainment features of the vehicle.

The Mercedes-AMG SL will likely be offered in SL 43, SL 53, and SL 63 guises. An SL 73e is in the rumor mill as well. The most powerful trim will probably get up to 800 hp from its mild-hybrid setup.
