Top 5 Features of the Mercedes-Benz Weekender Pop-Up Camper Van

Giancarlo Perlas February 8, 2020

Mercedes-Benz just launched its new pop-up camper van based on the Metris called the Weekender. The auto comes straight from the three-pointed star brand’s factory and is available to US buyers for the first time.

The Mercedes-Benz Weekender is made under the partnership of Driverge Vehicle Innovations and Peace Vans. Driverge Vehicle Innovations is a part of the Mercedes-Benz Master Solutions program while the Seattle-based Peace Vans is one of the largest classic camper van repair and restoration shops in the US.

The vehicle will be offered in US dealerships this spring, and here are its key features:

1. Passenger Configuration

The Weekender follows the five-seating configuration of the Metris. The front seats can be turned 180 degrees to transform the interior into a multipurpose lounge. On the other hand, the rear seats can accommodate three people. When it comes to nap time, the rear seats can be folded into a bed for two, and a 2-inch mattress with memory foam can be pulled down from the pop-up roof for another sleeping area for two more people.

2. Pop-Up Roof

Aside from being able to hold two people in a sleeping position, the pop-up roof has three windows that allow the occupants to appreciate the view during camping. It also comes with USB ports for lights, charging and other electronic devices.

3. Extra Battery

Don’t worry about draining the battery of the van because it comes with a second battery that is dedicated to its additional amenities like lightings, powering devices and other camping needs.

4. Optional Features

The Weekender can be further personalized to suit everyone’s travel needs. Its optional features include solar panels for solar charging, upgraded audio and navigation, 3M vehicle body wrap with 200 colors to choose from, 8-inch awning, screens for mosquitoes and other insects, tent for the rear liftgate, roof racks, and pull-out kitchen at the rear.

5. Added Bonus

Mercedes offers an added bonus to sweeten up the deal for the first 100 buyers of the Weekender. This comes in the form of a free National Parks Pass to help them kick-off their outdoor adventures.
