Renntech is Working on a 600 HP Mercedes-AMG A45 S

Don’t let the Mercedes-AMG A45 S fool you. Beneath the hood of the hatchback is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 416 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. Its M139 power unit is considered to be the most powerful four-cylinder engine in the world. If that’s not enough for you, Renntech recently hinted a build of the car that takes its power up to 600 hp.

Details about the 600 hp AMG A45 S hot hatch are still under wraps as its unveiling is scheduled around the first quarter of 2020. All we know for now is that it will include a software modification as well as upgrades on its turbocharger and exhaust system.

For now, the Florida-based tuner is testing the lower-spec version of the upgrade. The mod provides the high-performance A-Class with 475 hp and 424 lb-ft of torque, thanks to a mere software tweak. The aftermarket kit will be available to customers starting in the middle of January.

The stock configuration of the AMG A45 S allows it to sprint from 0 to 62 mph in just four seconds. There are no official figures yet about the acceleration of the hot hatch but a 475 hp output should shave off a split-second of its numbers while the 600 hp boost should be good to cut it by a full second.

On the other hand, the AMG A45 S has an electronically-limited top speed of 124 mph. Renntech will likely adjust its speed limiter to complement its extra power.
