Watch the New Spy Video of the Next-Gen Mercedes-Benz S-Class
Giancarlo Perlas October 6, 2019The next-generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class was spied once more while it was undergoing testing. The video uploaded via YouTube gives us a close up on the camouflaged prototype of Mercedes’ flagship car and even a peek at its interior.
The wraps cover the majority of the car’s body. However, the bulges and some exposed components give us a good idea about the things to expect from the new S-Class.
In front, the new S-Class is sporting new headlamps. The lights appear to be very narrow and not that different from the ones installed on the Vision EQS. With that, we expect the same level of technology in that portion featuring Mercedes’ innovative Digital Light system. In a nutshell, the said tech allows the projection of images on surfaces, which serves as a medium in communicating with pedestrians and other drivers.
The vehicle appears with a front grille that’s larger than the current S-Class. Then its triangular taillights caught our attention as well. Meanwhile, the mysterious door handles continue to baffle us, but we strongly suspect that the dark rectangular panels house the car’s new pop-out door handles.
The driver of the camouflaged S-Class was quick to cover its dashboard during one of its stops under a red traffic light so it is hard to make out the changes in the interior. The earlier spy shots of the auto revealed plenty of updates within its cockpit though. The old version of the prototype showed a huge display sticking out directly behind the steering wheel. Another large screen can be found in its center.
Information about the performance of the next S-Class remains scarce but there are hints that it might have up to 600 hp, particularly in its Maybach versions.
