Carlex Design Reveals New Mercedes-Benz X-Class Mod for Cyclists

Giancarlo Perlas July 16, 2019

You’ll never know where your next adventure with your Mercedes-Benz X-Class pickup will take you. If you love bringing your bicycle with you on your outdoor adventures, you might want to put the new kit unveiled by Carlex Design on your next shopping list. The new modification from the tuner features an elevated bike rack perfectly made for the vehicle.

One might argue that the X-Class can easily hold a pair of bikes into its bed without any hassle at all, which is definitely true. However, the kit from the tuner provides a roof rack extension that functions as a divider for the pickup’s tray. It allows the bikes to be placed on top of the rear bed while providing an unobstructed space at the bottom for any extra luggage. It also frees up space on the standard roof rack of the auto for more load.

Carlex Design’s new bike rack for the X-Class costs €4,995 ($5,626). It is quite pricey but it comes with plenty of neat features. The structure is made of powder-coated steel with aluminum parts. It has a remote-controlled tilting mechanism too that turns the rack into a ramp for a convenient way of loading or unloading the bikes.

The photos here show further customizations in the X-Class apart from the bike racks. Previously, we featured a post about the EXY and Urban packages of Carlex Design for the Mercedes pickup. The unit shown in the images looks like it has traces of both packages, which include the extended fenders, roof-mounted lights, carbon fiber hood, custom wheels and two-tone exterior finish with the tuner’s decals.
