Mercedes-Benz GLB Caught Testing with Little Camo
Giancarlo Perlas June 3, 2019After unveiling its concept form, the production version of the Mercedes-Benz GLB is already on its final testing phase. New spy shots of the sport utility vehicle are now circulating online.
According to Motor1, which is the source of the spy shots, the GLB is considered as the biggest Mercedes model to use the MFA platform. It is expected to have a three-row seating configuration. Previously, the Concept GLB revealed to us the three-pointed star brand’s rugged take on the SUV but the images here show that the company has toned down on that feature.
The GLB in the photos is riding on a higher suspension, off road tires and extended fenders. However, it is no longer as chunky as the concept version. Insiders said that the production model will not get the mentioned elements but Mercedes is still thinking about introducing them under an off-road package or new trim.
The GLB will be highlighted by its high-performance AMG variants. So far, we discovered that it will come in GLB 35 and GLB 45 models. The concept vehicle was equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo inline-four engine with 224 hp but we were told that the most potent trim, the AMG GLB 45, will get up to 416 hp like the Mercedes-AMG A45.
There were speculations that it might get an all-electric version too based on a couple of spy shots. On the other hand, there is a possibility that the spinoff unit will be marketed under the EQ range with an EQB badge. Inside sources claimed that it would get a 310-mile electric range.
