Mercedes-Benz X-Class Concept Unveiling Video

Giancarlo Perlas November 25, 2016

The Mercedes-Benz X-Class Pickup Concept made its world debut in Paris with much fanfare last month. If you missed the event, the YouTube channel of YouCar shares to us this momentous occasion in a video.

Hit the play button below to watch the awesome moment in Mercedes history:

In the video, Gorden Wagener, being the Head of Design at Daimler AG who was a key player in the X-Class development, took the floor to explain the styling of their new pickup. He discussed how the new vehicle became the embodiment of “hot and cool.”

Wagener began by saying that the Mercedes X-Class mixes beauty with toughness—with the latter being expected from a pickup. He indicated in his speech that they heavily based the design of their new auto with the SUVs of the three-pointed star brand.

The Daimler exec went on to say that in the making of the X-Class, they had to keep in mind their design philosophy, which is “sensual purity.” Then he further pointed out what their slogan meant.

According to him, “sensuality” represents emotion, heart and the sex appeal in design. On the other hand, “purity” is the intelligence which creates long-last solutions that are also hi-tech looking.

Similar to the contrasting traits of “sensuality and purity,” the new pickup combines the polar opposites of “hot and cool.” Behind Wagener are the two models of the pickup that display how they successfully integrated the design language of Mercedes-Benz in their new product range.

The video only talks briefly about what we could expect from the X-Class in terms of styling when its production version comes out next year. Check out our earlier article about the Mercedes pickup to find out about the other features offered by the auto.
