Mercedes-Benz A180 torched, caught on camera

When you own a Mercedes-Benz, you take good care of it. You don’t keep your car in excellent condition only to find it burning in your own driveway one night. To the horror of an 18-year-old girl in Ingleby Barwick, in England, that’s exactly what she saw from her bedroom at around 1:30 in the morning.
The deed was caught on tape, with a shady man walking up to the back of the Mercedes-Benz, tampering with it, and setting it ablaze before running out of sight. Check out the video below:
According to the owner, the vehicle was her ‘pride and joy’. She had the car for just a couple of months, so it’s all the more devastating for such a young car owner. While it’s an A-Class, the car is still pegged to have a value around £23,000, so it’s not cheap.
“I was in my bedroom, and I heard footsteps. It was about 1.30am, I was awake,” said the owner. “The security light came on at the back where the car was parked. I looked out and saw it on fire, so I rang the fire brigade straight away.”
Investigators are declaring it a targeted attack and have linked the incident to another car that was on fire in the past week. Early results of the investigation indicate mistaken identity as the cause for the crime.
The other car that was set on fire was a Vauxhall Zafira.
Perhaps the only good thing about these seemingly linked incidents is that no one got hurt.
