Mercedes-Benz hinted in its Facebook page of something that we could expect from it at the coming 2015 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. The new Mercedes Concept Car, based from the social media fan page of the three-pointed star marque, looks like the one pictured above.

Since it was just intended as a sneak preview, only the shape of the mysterious prototype has been revealed. The company stated that the product will be officially unveiled during the keynote speech of Daimler CEO Dr. Dieter Zetsche at the 2015 CES on January 5.

If anyone can still recall that crazy-looking Mercedes Unidentified Land Object or ULO—my equivalent of a UFO on land—that we witnessed sometime in October 2014, the two may be one and the same vehicles. For a quick recap, below is the picture of the mysterious Mercedes prototype seen earlier.

Comparing the two pictures, the spy shot of the Mercedes Concept Car seemed to be bulkier in the fender extension. The fake fenders might have been used only for testing purposes. Since the car was being tested while covered with a tarpaulin hiding its key features, the bulky extension must be to prevent the cloth from getting stuck or being sucked into the wheels as the car was being driven.

Due to CES being a show focusing on technology, not the usual auto show, it is likely that the Mercedes Concept Car would be featuring a cutting-edge technological trait. It is highly speculated that it would be equipped with the self-driving feature, plus an electric or hydrogen fuel cell as a power source.
