Check out the new Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake
Ryan Joseph Ramos November 25, 2014If you’d like your CLA stretched out to offer more space and with a lower height, then the new CLA Shooting Brake is for you. With a design that seeks to strike a healthy balance between ‘the emotionality of a coupe and the intelligence of a shooting brake’, prospective buyers will get a CLA that’s specifically tailored to their needs, highlighted by the kind of modern luxury that Mercedes-Benz is known for.
The CLA Shooting Brake will have two diesel options and three petrol engine options on offer initially, along with 4MATIC all-wheel drive, once it goes on sale by January of next year. There will also be a limited-run OrangeArt Edition variant (pictured above) for the market launch. This special-edition model will feature a number of orange customizations, including highlight rings on the bi-xenon headlamps, rim flanges on the wheels, and top-stitching on the sports seats.
“Like its big brother, the CLS Shooting Brake, the CLA Shooting Brake is targeted at active customers who are looking outside of the mainstream for a car that impresses with a high utility value,” said Ola Källenius, who is in charge of marketing and sales over at Mercedes-Benz Cars.
The Shooting Brake boasts of improved headroom (especially in the rear) compared to the coupe variant, thanks to the gradual downward slope of the roof line. Coupled with the elongated form factor, the variant also comes with easier accessibility for the back seats. That kind of spaciousness is definitely an asset for some who might not be too comfortable with the compact coupe’s layout or for those who require more room for their precious cargo.
Diesel options are the CLA 200 CDI with a max speed rated at 215 km/h and the CLA 220 CDI (228 km/h). For petrol options, there are four including: the CLA 180 (210 km/h), CLA 200 (225 km/h), and the CLA 250 (240 km/h). Of course, there is also the CLA 250 4MATIC.
