11,111th Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Produced by Arobus
Ryan Joseph Ramos February 18, 2013As perhaps the world’s best-selling van, the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter is truly in great demand. It’s used for a wide range of purposes and represents the automaker’s commitment to quality and reliability. That’s why it’s also important to have reliable partners when it comes to making Sprinter variants. Recently, Tuzia, Turkey-based minibus body manufacturer and Mercedes-Benz partner Arobus produced its 11,111th Sprinter, a testament to the successful partnership between the two entities.
The partnership started 5 years ago, and the initial order was 250 units. Arobus now produces six different minibus variants of the Sprinter, and the manufacturer’s production is now pegged at around 5,000 units annualy. The majority of the units are intended for schoolbus or taxi use.
This massive scale is facilitated by the Mercedes-Benz Vans Body Manufacturer Center, which is located in Istanbul. Services are provided to the various Mercedes-Benz partners, and the partners or manufacturers then update the center about all the conversions and production details.
“We’re very pleased by the trust Arobus places in the Sprinter,” said Body Manufacturer Center chief Michael Pflüger. “Our joint success demonstrates the tremendous opportunities offered by the extensive co-operation between Mercedes-Benz Vans and the body manufacturers.”
