Crafter

The decades of van partnership between Volkswagen and Mercedes-Benz are about to come to a close based on a Reuters report. This is because Volkswagen is looking to focus more on its partnership with Maschinenfabrik Augsburg-Nurnberg or MAN, wherein Volkswagen holds a majority of its stakes.

The agreement between the two German automakers is not supposed to end until 2016. However, Volkswagen is already planning major developments on its very own new generation Crafter. Although Mercedes-Benz showed its interest to continue and even extend the partnership agreement, plus it is also looking to include Renault-Nissan in the picture, Volkswagen is firm in its decision to sever it in favor of MAN.

Apparently, the move was based on the reason of practicality on the part of Volkswagen since it holds about three quarters of the shares of MAN. Volkswagen said that the decision would simplify the cooperation of the two companies and strengthen their position in the market.
