Mercedes-AMG CLE 63 S E Performance Coupe Spied On Public Road

One of the biggest launches of Mercedes-Benz this year is the all-new CLE Coupe and Cabriolet in July. The new range bridges the C-Class and E-Class coupes and cabriolets into a single car to streamline the three-pointed star marque’s offerings. After the unveiling of its standard Benz and high-performance AMG CLE 53 models, it only means we are now proceeding to the more potent version of the car. With that, the suspected Mercedes-AMG CLE 63 S E Performance Coupe was just spied on the roads, which gives us a preview of what’s next for the series.

Recently, walkoARvideos uploaded a new Mercedes on the works. The car in question definitely suggests that it’s the CLE Coupe due to its unmistakably swooping form and greenhouse layout. However, one thing noticeable about it is its darkened roof, hinting at a Panoramic setup.

Meanwhile, the Panamericana grille styling featuring vertical slats flanking the center logo of the front grille assures us that what we are looking at is an AMG trim. Going around the back reinforces our suspicions that this is indeed above the AMG CLE 53 because of the vents behind the fenders, rear diffuser, and rhombus-shaped quadruple exhaust tips.

Unfortunately, the hazy zebra-patterned camouflage makes it hard to spot the hybrid vehicle’s charging port, but there appears to be a square outline on the wraps just under the right taillight which hints at its location. This should be similar to the Mercedes-AMG SL 63 S E Performance’s configuration.

Powertrain

Mercedes is currently mum on the powertrain of the most potent variant of the CLE but it will most likely adopt the Formula One-based specs of the AMG C 63 S E Performance or the AMG GLC 63 S E Performance Coupe. Both cars are equipped with a hybridized 2.0-liter twin-turbo four-cylinder engine churning a total output of 680 hp and 1,020 Nm of torque.

Official Debut

Judging the development of the prototype here, the Mercedes-AMG CLE 63 S E Performance will probably be officially unveiled by the spring of next year.
