Mercedes-Benz CLE Spied Looking More Like Another Version Of The SL

Mercedes-Benz is hard at work testing its upcoming CLE range, which is set to replace the C- and E-Class coupes and convertibles. A new spy video of the Mercedes-Benz CLE convertible shows the direction that the three-pointed star marque is taking for its all-new offering, which resembles the latest Mercedes-AMG SL but with a few unique styling cues on the exterior to make it distinct from the mentioned series.

CLE Exterior

The convertible version of the CLE remains in full-body camouflage wrap, hiding its design details. Despite the concealment, it is apparent that the auto possesses unique styling cues, with the front end sporting swept-back headlights and a grille design that seem to have taken heavy inspiration from the new SL.

However, the overall appearance of the CLE top-down is less aggressive compared to the SL. Likewise, the model is expected to have a distinct rear-end layout to better tell the two apart.

CLE Interior

There is no information available at this time regarding the interior of the new CLE convertible. However, it’s expected to carry the cockpit elements of the latest C-Class the least with the updated version of the MBUX infotainment system for the management of its navigation, entertainment, comfort, and driving assistance systems.

Powertrims of the CLE

As we have been told earlier by various sources, the new model will debut with different powertrain options plus an AMG treatment for its range-topping trim. The top-trim variant, the AMG CLE 63, is rumored to have a mild-hybrid turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine partnered with an electric motor. This should let the convertible deliver up to 671 hp and 752 lb-ft of torque.

Previous spy shots have also revealed that the new car will likely feature plug-in hybrid variants alongside the other powertrains found in the C-Class.

Debut of the All-New Mercedes-Benz CLE

It’s unclear when will the new convertible model from the Mercedes-Benz CLE line will debut. The most probable is either the end of this year or the next.
