Facelifted Mercedes-Benz CLA Coupe Spied While on a Test Drive

It’s been three years since the second-generation Mercedes-Benz CLA Coupe was unveiled. That means it’s high time for its facelifted model already. Recently, we had our confirmation through a new spy video showing the redesigned car.

The partially camouflaged CLA here has its facia covered but with the headlamps partially peeking from the wrap. Like the refreshed A-Class we saw earlier, the facelifted CLA is expected to get a more advanced LED lighting tech.

Going around the back, there’s another camo strip lining up the taillights and going across the boot lid. This could mean a thin LED strip bridging the rear lamps, which is similar to the new EQA. Even the lower part of the rear bumper is covered so there might be major changes there, too.

As with the other mid-cycle Mercedes facelift models, most of the updates will most probably come in the interior of the upcoming CLA, which will mirror the detailing found in the A-Class. With that, expect a more advanced MBUX infotainment system in there and some upgrades on the digital displays.

The single bar running horizontally in the radiator grille of the CLA Coupe in the video indicates that it’s a standard Benz model. This is only a facelift so there should be no changes in the powertrain of the model. Therefore, it’s retaining the 2.0-liter turbo inline-four engine tuned to deliver a base output of 221 hp or up to 382 hp for its AMG variant.
