Mercedes-Benz G-Class Gets a New Variant

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class just introduced a new trim. Powerful, comfortable, superior: That’s how Mercedes describes the new G 350 d variant of the range, which is due to arrive in dealerships by spring next year but already available for order on January.

Fuel Efficiency

The Mercedes-Benz G 350 d comes with all the goodies found in the standard G-Class but with the best fuel-efficiency score among its peers in the range. According to Daimler, the combined fuel consumption of the vehicle is at 9.8/9.6 l/100 km. It’s made sweeter by its combined C02 emissions at 259-252 g/km.

Performance

Normally, car buyers are torn between having the most fuel-efficient product but with less power, and a high-performance vehicle with dismal fuel-efficiency ratings. The G 350 d does not disappoint on both factors though.

The new G-Class trim uses the OM 656 engine of Mercedes with 2925 cc displacement that has numbers below the emission limits set by the Euro 6d-TEMP standard. The unit produces a decent 286 hp at 3400-4600 rpm and it has a peak torque of 600 Nm at 1200-3200 rpm. All that power is distributed via a 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission with torque converter for an improved off-road driving experience.

The auto is capable of reaching an electronically-limited top speed of 199 km/h. Meanwhile, its 0-100 km/h acceleration can be achieved in as little as 7.4 seconds.

Comfort

Despite the rugged appearance of the G-Class on the outside, the G 350 d its interior is packed with luxurious elements which include high-quality leather seat covers. Moreover, its instrument panel comes with ARTICO man-made leather and open-pore wood embellishments.
