After launching the all-new A-Class Sedan, Mercedes-Benz is looking to follow it up with the CLA. Confirming this is a new spy video showing the next Mercedes-Benz CLA undergoing testing at the Nurburgring track in Germany.
Like the previous spy shots, the CLA featured here is still covered in a heavy camouflage so we can’t say much about its exterior and interior design yet, except that it looks much like the A-Class with a sexier slope on its roofline. However, the new video from Motor1 already gives us an idea of the car’s performance, particularly its agility. Tuning up the volume also lets us listen to the sweet noise coming from the vehicle’s engine.
The upcoming CLA is likely equipped with the same engine configurations found in the new A-Class Sedan. The top-of-the-line trim, the AMG CLA 45, might produce at least 400 hp output. Following the lineup of the A-Class, there should be an AMG CLA 35 with at least 300 hp in its mill.
There is a strong similarity between the A-Class and the CLA, after all, the two are closely related and they share the same MFA2 platform. Given the fact that the CLA is a notch higher in the hierarchy of Mercedes compared to the A-Class, it is expected to get a lower drag than the A-Class Sedan’s 0.22 Cd figures.
The interior of the CLA is certainly getting the MBUX intelligent multimedia system too, which is found on the A-Class. Some elements in the present CLS model will probably trickle down to the CLA as well.
Since the A-Class Sedan was just unveiled, therefore, it may take until next year until the new CLA gets its world premiere.
