Nico Rosberg Bags the Victory in F1 Belgian Grand Prix

Nico Rosberg is back on his winning ways. The German bagged the victory in the recently concluded Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix. However, it was his partner who really showed a very impressive performance.

Rosberg started with a pole position in Belgium, which gave him a huge advantage in the race. The Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team driver finished with a time of 1:44:51.058. He was followed by Daniel Ricciardo of Red Bull who was only 14.113 seconds behind.

Rosberg’s win pushed him closer to his partner Lewis Hamilton in the 2016 season’s Driver Standings. The current score of the two are 223 and 232, respectively, with the reigning world champion still in the lead.

It was Hamilton though who was at a great disadvantage in Belgium. While Rosberg was positioned in front of the grid during the start of the race, the Briton took off from the last place in the grid at the 21st position.

Hamilton was taken back to the rear of the starting grid due to a humongous penalty given to him prior to the race. The Mercedes driver reportedly had to get three new power units for his car over the weekend. The move proved to be very costly as it earned him a total of 60 grid position penalties. Luckily, he could only take as much as 21 grid penalties as the number of cars in F1 is only the said figure.

The drawback didn’t stop Hamilton from whizzing his way past the competition. When the dust settled, the champ landed on the third place. He was only 27.634 seconds slower than Rosberg’s car.
