A prototype of the latest Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 was spotted recently, as shown on a report from autoevolution.com. The GLC is considered as the successor of the GLK SUV and is aimed a small market of users who may think the V6 engine of the GLC 43 is a bit wanting.
The GLC 63 features a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that is capable of producing of up to 510 HP of power for the GLC 63 S model. But, it should be noted that the engine used on the GLC 63 has the potential to produce over 600 HP of power with the use of some software modifications. The vehicle shown on the spy shots is the standard model that offers 478 HP of power.
The slightly aggressive body of the GLC 63 was probably made to complement its power output. The 2017 version features large wheels, huge air intakes installed on its front bumper, possibly stronger brakes, and a lower suspension.
For the moment, the speed of this luxury crossover remains uncertain, but industry watchers are expecting the new Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph or 0 to 96 km/h within 4.2 seconds considering that the acceleration of the GLC 43 is at 4.8 seconds. The top speed will likely be limited to 155 mph or 250 km/h. However, there may be some markets that allow a faster speed with the use of an optional kit.
The GLC 63 may be introduced during the Paris Mot0or Show in October and become available in the market before the end of the year. The Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 will not have any rivals until next year or 2018 when the BMW X3 M is launched.
