Mercedes-Benz Bremen Plant Will Produce the GLC Coupe

Just after making its much anticipated public debut at the New York International Auto Show, Mercedes-Benz announced through the Global Media Site of Daimler that it will be starting the mass production of the GLC Coupe.

According to the company, the GLC Coupe will be produced in its Bremen plant. This is not only an exciting development to customers who are eagerly waiting to get their hands on the crossover SUV, but it also comes as a good news to workers within that area who are looking for stable jobs. The move to produce the GLC Coupe in Bremen is coupled with 200 permanent job opportunities. The priority of the full-time positions are those presently deployed in the same facility as temporary workers.

The report added that the plant will house the production of the C-Class Cabriolet too. The production of the new convertible that debuted earlier in Geneva will commence later this year.

With the addition of the GLC Coupe and C-Class Cabriolet in the Bremen plant of Mercedes, the facility will already be producing a total of 10 models. Currently, the plant is working at high levels of capacity. However, thanks to the flexibility of the people running it, the company claimed it can still accommodate the additional models without putting too much stress on the workload of their team.

As of mid-2015, Mercedes allocated 750 million euros for the modernization and expansion of the Bremen plant. The continuous effort to improve the facility has gained it the distinction as the “Factory of the Year” in the large-scale production category and allowed it to house the production of more models like those of the upcoming GLC Coupe and C-Class Cabrio.
