As Daimler said in its Global Media Site, the legend of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class lives on. The more than three-decade old range of the three-pointed star brand recently released new updates in its power unit.
According to Daimler, all the current models in the lineup will get the upgrade. That’s from the V6 and V8 engines up to the very powerful V12 units.
First in the list is the G 350 d. Based from the press release of the company, the model’s V6 engine gets an output of 245 hp and 600 Nm of torque, which bring its zero to 100 kmph acceleration to 8.8 seconds.
Then the G 500’s V8 is updated to 422 hp with 610 Nm of torque. Its zero to 100 kmph sprint is improved to 5.9 seconds. The upcoming G 500 4×42 that replaces the 6×6 will have the same output, but its acceleration from zero to 100 kmph is increased to 7.4 due to its massive frame.
As for the AMG variants, the Mercedes-AMG G63’s V8 unit receives 571 hp and 760 Nm of torque. On the other hand, the more aggressive AMG G 65 with the V12 engine is revamped to reach a power of up to 630 hp and 1,000 Nm of torque under its hood. These upgrades enable the mentioned performance models of the iconic G-Class to run from zero to 100 kmph in just 5.4 seconds and 5.3 seconds, respectively.
The current pricing of the G-Class in Germany (inclusive of 19% VAT) starts at 89,922.35 euros with the G 350 d. The new Mercedes-Benz G 500 4×42 costs 226,100 euros. The most powerful model, the G 65 Edition 463, is 282,208.50 euros.
