Special Edition Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 Sold For Charity

A special edition Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 was recently unveiled by the luxury vehicle manufacturer from Germany, according to a report from motorward.com.

The special edition model of the super car, which was produced to demonstrate the social responsibility of Mercedes-Benz, was sold for the benefit of the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation. Mercedes-Benz is one of the founding partners of the foundation.

The special edition SLS AMG GT3 has a special blue and white color scheme and featured numerous logos of the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation. It was the 100th unit produced by the company and was purchased by a gentleman from China. The sale of the luxury vehicle raised 250,000 Euros or around $274,000 for the foundation. The main goal of the foundation is to help disadvantaged children in China.

The special edition Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 was handed over to the buyer at the Laureus World Sports Awards held in Shanghai.

Daimler AG Greater China Board of Management member Hubertus Troska said the company welcomes and supports the the work made by the foundation among the young people in China. He added that Daimler will work with the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation in providing around 150,000 deprived young people in China a better future in sports by 2016.

Troska also said the local corporate responsibility activities of the company will do much more even as it will donate 7.6 million Euros or around $8.3 million for comprehensive social programs within China that demonstrates the commitment of the company in the country.
