The Mercedes-AMG GT3 Super Beast is Out

Mercedes-AMG GT3
The Mercedes-AMG GT3 was showcased at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.

As promised, Mercedes debuted its GT3 race car. The automaker simply called it the Mercedes-AMG GT3. The launching of the variant was made at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.

The car uses the Mercedes-AMG GT platform. However, it has been embedded with FIA GT3 specs. It houses racing steering wheel, pedals, carbon fiber shell seat, radio, extra push buttons and knobs. Also, it is lined with a roll cage for the protection of its occupants.

The car is embedded with carbon fiber aerodynamic elements in its exterior that can be found in its hood, doors, front wing, rear aprons, sidewalls, side skirts, boot lid, rear aerofoil, and diffuser. Then, it has a light but rigid aluminum spaceframe to significantly reduce its weight. The resulting product is a more agile car compared to the standard Mercedes-AMG GT.

However, as mentioned earlier, only the model of the car has been upgraded. It should be noted that the current GT3 car uses the SLS platform. The Mercedes-AMG GT3 still retained its predecessor’s 6.2-liter V8 engine. The power is distributed through its rear wheels by a six-speed sequential racing gearbox.

According to the Press Release of Mercedes-AMG, the new GT3 car of the brand will be shipped to its customers by the end of 2015.
