First 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Long Wheelbase Rolls Off Chinese Facility

The first 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Long Wheelbase, which was created mainly for the Chinese market, rolled off the production line recently, as indicated on a gtspirit.com report. The luxury vehicle is the first C-Class with a long wheelbase, and is set to enter the market in China by September.

Hubertus Troska, Daimler board member, said over 150,000 units of the C-Class were purchased by customers, and China is already the second-biggest market of the luxury vehicle. He added that the company has taken the next step, which is to design and develop a luxury vehicle for the Chinese market. The long-wheelbase is expected to be among the top growth drivers in China.

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class Long Wheelbase has a number of differences with the European model of the vehicle. The longer wheelbase sets the model for the Chinese market apart from the models offered in Europe. It adds another 80 millimeters in leg room for rear seat passengers. It also gives the luxury vehicle a distinctive exterior design. The extra legroom at the rear extends the total length of the luxury vehicle to 4,677 millimeters. It also has a wheelbase of 2,920 millimeters.

The most important element of the C-Class Long Wheelbase package is its interior. It features the distinctive modern fashion of Mercedes-Benz that uses high-quality materials while enhancing ergonomics. Passengers in the rear seat have privacy glazing, distinctive luxury headrest, leather trims on the instrument panel, arm rests, vanity mirrors, networked rear center console, and illuminated door sills.

The luxury vehicle also allows rear seat passengers to adjust the front passenger seat. The infotainment system also features a touchpad that recognizes Chinese handwriting. For the moment, the luxury vehicle manufacturer has not revealed all the details of the C-Class Long Wheelbase along with its price. But, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Long Wheelbase is expected to feature four-cylinder and six-cylinder engines.
