Upcoming Mercedes-Benz GLK Class Emerges In Dubai

The latest Mercedes-Benz GLK Class was spotted recently by a reader of the Indian Autos Blog. Images of the next-generation GLK showed while it was being tested in Dubai, according to a report from indianautoblogs.com.

The upcoming vehicle from Mercedes-Benz is set to become available in the European market by September 2015. It will also be introduced into India by 2016. This particular vehicle will have a number of rivals in the international vehicle market, including the BMW X3, Volvo XC60 and Audi Q5.

Since the GLA is the new baby crossover of the German luxury vehicle manufacturer, the GLK will no longer be offer in this particular segment. Its size was increased to move it away from the crossover based on the A-Class and offered in a whole new market segment.

The new vehicle will be using the same platform used on the 2014 model of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class. It will also be offered in both the left-hand and right-hand drive markets.

The upcoming model of the Mercedes-Benz GLK will feature a longer wheelbase, which will offer additional legroom for passengers at the rear. Its trunk capacity is also expected to be increased due to the increase in its size. Industry watchers also anticipate that the appearance of this soft-roader will be sleeker with a longer hood and sloped roofline.

The rear-wheel-drive vehicle is also expected to feature similar engines as the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class. The GLK 250 will reportedly come with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder turbo-charged engine. On the other hand, the Blue Tec 250 may feature a 2.1-liter four-cylinder diesel engine. The GLK 350 and AMG variants are expected to come with a V6 engine.

Following the introduction of the latest vehicle offering of Mercedes-Benz in September next year, the GLK Coupe is expected to follow after several months. On the other hand, the AMG variant of the two vehicle models of the Mercedes-Benz GLK is expected to enter the market by 2016.
