The Mercedes-Benz Museum located in Stuttgart, Germany will house one of the most important auctions in the history of the brand. According to CTV News, the public sale at the 16,500 square meter exhibition space of the luxury brand’s own museum will be held on July 12, 2014.

The sales catalog is not yet complete as of the moment, so we have no idea yet about the models which will be up for grabs, other than the 1909 Mercedes. We have no word yet on the overall value of the vehicles set to be auctioned also. What has been established by the source is the number of units to be auctioned, which is around 40.

The auction will be spearheaded by Michael Bock, the head of Mercedes-Benz Classic at Daimler AG. Then, the event will be jointly facilitated by Mercedes and Bonhams.

Bonhams is a known auctioneer of art and antiques based in London, UK. It was founded in 1793, and as of 2012, it has 66 locations worldwide. Bonhams notably set a record sale for the Mercedes W196 which was piloted by Juan Manuel Fangio when he emerged triumphant in the 1954 Formula One Championship. The car sold for $3.3 million said the source.

One of the cars announced in the upcoming event  is the 1909 Mercedes with an engine output of 35 hp. The report claimed that the car would fetch approximately $660,000 to $935,000 at the auction.
