As conditions got better in the afternoon, the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team managed to get in more runs, and with good pace at that, to settle into the 2013 British Grand Prix. Nico Rosberg topped the time sheets in practice two with 1:32.248, while Lewis Hamilton’s pace (1:32.911) was good for fifth.

The team only managed a combined 8 laps in the rained-upon morning practice, of which Rosberg accounted for 3 (posting no time) and Hamilton had 5 laps, posting a time that was fourth-best (1:55.458).

Rosberg noted that the MGP W02 was still quite quick, although the team is still not in top form when taking race speed into consideration.

“It could be a completely different picture on Sunday as the weather should be a lot warmer, so we don’t know where we are right now compared to the others,” Rosberg said, adding that he believes the team will still have a good weekend in Silverstone.

Hamilton says he’s struggling as far as the overall balance of the car is concerned, and this definitely points to more adjustments to make sure things get better for him once race day comes if he wants to win his home race.

The conditions for Sunday are expected to be considerably warmer compared to the first day of practice, so it’s important for Mercedes to make the right projections based on practice two data in order to make the right changes for tomorrow’s morning practice and qualifying.
