After alleging a conflict of interest between Toto and Susie Wolff, the FIA is now in an “active legal exchange” with the parties involved. We learned this over a social media post by Mercedes F1 yesterday.

Official Statement of Toto Wolff

In the official statement released by Toto Wolff via the Mercedes F1 page on X, he disclosed that they are presently in an “active legal exchange” with the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) due to the “significant media interest” made by the issues against them. Although the governing body of Formula One already abandoned its investigation on the matter, Wolff was determined to exercise his legal rights in demanding “full transparency” on the nature of the allegations.

The post ended with Wolff asking for the public’s understanding because they would temporarily refrain from commenting on the subject.

Conflict of Interest Allegations

As reported earlier, the FIA launched a probe due to suspicion regarding the Wolffs presumably sharing confidential information with each other. The purpose of the probe was to determine whether or not there was a conflict of interest in the couple’s respective roles as Mercedes F1 team principal and F1 Academy managing director.

The FIA also claimed that their action was in response to complaints made by other teams in the sport. The ensuing events led to a public backlash towards the organization, though. Meanwhile, the other F1 teams were quick to distance themselves from the controversy by unequivocally denying their involvement in any complaints.

To save face, FIA immediately retracted from its move and blamed the mass media for fueling the issues. But, of course, they will have to face accountability over the damaging allegations that they made to the Wolff couple.

Now, they will have to face the music because Toto and Susie Wolff may be on their way to filing a major lawsuit against them if they don’t arrive at an amicable settlement soon.
