Giancarlo Perlas December 21, 2023Mercedes-AMG just released a new video featuring F1 driver Lewis Hamilton behind the wheel of its flagship high-performance car, the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4MATIC+. It shows a first-person perspective of the ride in a 360-degree video, so better get your VR glasses on along the way.
Lewis Hamilton’s Experience Behind the Wheel of the Next-Gen Mercedes-AMG GT 63 Coupe
According to Mercedes-Benz, the new Mercedes-AMG GT 63 starts at €188,704.25. But is it worth all that? If the Formula 1 driver’s experience with it is to be considered, then it’s definitely worth every penny.
The seven-time F1 Drivers’ Champion was clearly having a blast behind the steering wheel of the AMG GT 63 in the 360-degree video as he drove it around the Mercedes-Benz Immendingen Test Center. Hamilton can be heard praising the car’s power delivery and balance numerous times on the way to 220 km/h.
The Briton also remarked on the throttle application and braking system of the coupe. “It’s got great power, feels great over the kerbs, super responsive, you know,” said Hamilton.
Lots of “woo-hoos” can be heard in between the driver’s statements, too.
Quick Recap of the New Mercedes-AMG GT 63 Coupe
The Mercedes-AMG GT range had undergone a massive overhaul. A key change introduced within the car is its more practical interior design, now featuring a 2+2 seating configuration.
Hamilton’s video here does not place much emphasis on this new feature, but angling the vid at the rear reveals the front seat’s sporty styling and a silhouette of the rear row’s conventional yet comfortable arrangement mirroring the auto’s 4-Door Coupe version’s layout.
The GT 63’s performance is elevated by AMG’s handcrafted 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine packing 585 hp and 800 Nm of torque. All that power is directed to the 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system of Mercedes and managed via a nine-speed Speedshift transmission.
The specs propel the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 Coupe from zero to 100 km/h in mere 3.2 seconds.
