Mercedes-Benz EQC EV To Get Major Overhaul For 2025 Model

A prototype for the next-generation Mercedes-Benz EQC electric vehicle (EV) was recently spied with a major overhaul in design. There are, however, suggestions that the model will now be absorbed in the upcoming GLC EV range.

What the Spy Shots Reveal

The Mercedes-Benz EQC moniker is already five years old, and its maker is already gearing up to introduce a next-generation series in around two years. A prototype of the unit was recently caught by spy photographers undergoing testing in Germany.

Although its body is completely wrapped in heavy zebra camouflage, the contours, fascia, and headlamps definitely confirm that what we’re looking at is an EQC. It’s really hard to make out what’s under the covers but it appears to be chunkier than the current model with what appear to be aggressive creases embedded into it.

The rigid outlines are reminiscent of the BMW XM’s styling. Then again, Mercedes may only be trying to conceal a sleek design with some temporary padding underneath the camo.

The next-gen EQC is expected to be launched in 2025 under a 2026 model-year badge. There’s not much information present about the EV yet, but reports and industry insiders estimate that it will get a 300-mile range. That’s a 50-mile bump from the UK-spec model of the vehicle.

Is the Mercedes EQC EV Going to the US?

The EQC is one of the most popular EV models of Mercedes to have never made it to the US. However, there are now claims that the next-gen series will finally be sold there.

The rumor mill has it that the assembly of the GLC EV will be moved from Bremen to the Alabama plant of Mercedes, swapping it with the EQS SUV. This fuels speculations that either the EQC will be rebadged in North America as the GLC or it will be phased out and absorbed by the lineup as previously stated by a German auto publication.
