Check Out This Amazing Mercedes-Benz 280 SE (W108) Lowrider
Giancarlo Perlas October 20, 2023I was recently browsing Instagram when I found some amazing shots of a classic Mercedes-Benz 280 SE (W108) that has been slammed to get it as close to the ground as possible. While this may not be everyone’s cup of tea, it does give us an idea of what it looks like to convert this luxury car into a lowrider.
There’s not much information about this build for the Mercedes-Benz 280 SE (W108), but according to stopsandshots on IG, it was a crowd favorite. As a result, it just won the German Car Festival in Silverstone.
Year Model
While we have no idea about the specific year of this model, it should be noted that the W108 was introduced in 1965 and its production ran until 1972 in Germany and 1973 in North America. However, the 4.5-liter engine variant of the series, as indicated at the back of the auto, didn’t arrive until 1971. Therefore, it’s safe to say that the car in question may be from 1971 to 1972.
According to the uploader, the car appeared to be in its pristine condition, complete with its time-accurate hubcaps and tires. Again, there were no details about the suspension modifications of the auto, so we’ll just leave this out for now.
Powertrain
As for the stock engine, the naturally aspirated V8 unit had an output of 198 hp at 4,500 rpm and 358 Nm (264.05 lb-ft) of torque at 3,000 rpm. The numbers are enough to propel the car from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in just 10.1 seconds on its way to a top speed of 200 km/h (124.27 mph).
Mixed Reactions
While many praised the lowrider mod for the Mercedes-Benz 280 SE (W108), others saw the customization as completely unnecessary for such a classic car. In the end, whether you appreciate the transformation or prefer the classic look, this W108 lowrider certainly makes a bold statement in the world of automotive customization.
