Mercedes-Benz Launches “Tourguide” Travel Assistance for MBUX
Giancarlo Perlas July 14, 2022Do you sometimes wonder about certain points of interest that have caught your attention while driving? Mercedes-Benz vehicles now come with the “Tourguide” service for the MBUX to feed the curiosity of drivers and passengers alike.
The service is a part of the MBUX Voice Assistant. It serves as an acoustic travel guide that can be activated using the voice command “Hey Mercedes, start Tourguide”.
While active, Tourguide will talk about interesting and entertaining facts about several locations that you will come across on German autobahns. The virtual tourist guide offers a great time for people to pass time while traveling long distances, and a great companion for people driving solo so they won’t get bored along the way. Business travelers also stand to benefit a lot from this feature while scouting for opportunities in certain areas.
Upon activation, Tourguide will immediately begin extensively talking about the key points of interest after the first sign on the road. It will automatically switch off 90 minutes after the driver leaves the autobahn or takes a break. Of course, the user can deactivate the service using touch or voice commands anytime.
The Tourguide app comes with the MBUX Voice Assistant available in the new EQS, EQE, S-Class, C-Class, AMG SL, GLC, and EQS SUV models. However, its database is only limited to around 3,400 spots on the German autobahns as of now. Mercedes-Benz is planning to roll out the service in several countries in the near future.
