AMG Celebrates its 55 Years in Business with the Special Edition Mercedes-AMG G63

Giancarlo Perlas March 23, 2022

Tracing its humble beginnings in a small workshop outside Stuttgart, AMG rose in the automotive world from a Mercedes-Benz aftermarket tuner to a high-performance brand under the three-pointed star marque. Celebrating the 55-year history of the company is the launch of the Mercedes-AMG G63 Edition 55.

The SUV based on the iconic G-Class, a range that has an equally long track record within Mercedes, is exclusively available for order until October 2022, or until supplies last.

The limited anniversary edition AMG G63 stands out from its regular version with its special body paint that comes in either Obsidian Black Metallic or G Manufaktur Opalite White. Stylized front emblem, dark accents from the AMG Night Package and Night Package II, chrome fuel cap with AMG badge, and cross-spoke wheels measuring 22-inches with Matt Tantalum Grey finish also differentiate the Edition 55 from its standard AMG version. AMG floor mats in black velour with red stitching plus stainless steel door sills with red illumination and AMG letterings also adorn the auto’s interior.

The AMG G63 Edition 55 keeps the stock configuration of its regular version’s 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine. With that, the SUV retains its 577 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque outputs.

The new Mercedes-AMG G63 Edition 55 costs €17,850 up from the price of the G63 model. As a bonus, the company throws in a free AMG car cover with every purchase of the product. According to its maker, more models will get special edition models in commemoration of AMG’s more than half a century’s existence.
