Not so long ago, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class was the three-pointed star marque’s best-selling auto before its legion of followers shifted their preferences to crossovers and SUVs wherein the counterpart of the car, the Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV, now happens to be taking its place as the new best-seller. Nevertheless, it cannot be denied that the C-Class holds a special place in the German automaker’s past and present cars with its over 30 years of production history.
The C-Class has undergone a series of updates for the 2022 model year, and it now almost looks like the downsized S-Class at a glance. It is defined by its smoother exterior surfaces and subtle body lines accentuating some of its key features. The changes also extend to its interior which showcases more legroom and more luxury trims. Its tech is highlighted by an 11.9-inch central screen that can be upsized to 12.3 inches and a wide digital cluster. These operate on a more advanced MBUX infotainment system with a plethora of updates for the driver assistance systems.
The 2022 C-Class starts with the C300 model with a $43,550 MSRP in the US. It features a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine with a mild-hybrid setup bringing its power to 255 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. That’s good for a 0 to 60 mph acceleration in just six seconds with an electronically-limited top speed of 130 mph.
