Rainbow-Painted Mercedes-Benz G-Class: A Salute for the Pride Month
Giancarlo Perlas September 21, 2021Pride Month is coming up in the US this October, and the three-pointed star marque is giving the LGBT community a salute with its new rainbow-colored Mercedes-Benz G-Class. A photo of the special G-Wagen is shown against a breathtaking backdrop in honor of our brothers and sisters.
As the headline says, the G-Class features a palette inspired by the different hues of the rainbow. It starts with subtle pink on its nose and a greenish hood. The colors gradually shift to purple at the A-pillar, then going to blue, until it goes back to yellow-green at the rear. Meanwhile, the tail is finished in yellow. The roof and wheel arches follow the same theme corresponding to the areas around them while the wheels, front grille, and front bumper are finished in black, which does not appear in a rainbow but does provide a contrasting appeal to the iconic SUV’s body.
Mercedes has been active in its campaign for inclusivity and diversity, be it in Formula 1 and its TV or online ads. The latest of which is the brand’s Cinderella campaign featuring Camilla Cabello in a G-Class and Billy Porter as Fab G in a Maybach.
Among the notable automakers who have created a special edition of their models for Pride Month as of late include Ford with its “Very Gay Raptor”, Bentley with its Mulliner Bacalar sporting stripes of rainbow colors as well as a Continental GT with rainbow wrap, and BMW with its 8 Series Convertible fitted with rainbow wraps.
