5 Key Highlights of the 2022 Mercedes-AMG SL Interior

Giancarlo Perlas August 6, 2021

The new Mercedes-AMG SL is scheduled to be unveiled later this year. What keeps people excited about it is that it will be exclusive to the AMG high-performance brand, which means a more powerful engine coupled with a sportier design.

To further live up with the legacy of the 300 SL, the auto will also feature a luxurious interior with elevated styling, tech, and comfort elements. Here are the 5 key highlights of the new Mercedes-AMG SL interior based on Daimler’s official press release:

1. Aviation-Inspired Instrument Panel

The dashboard of the SL showcases a symmetrical design similar to a jet, imitating its sculptured and powerful wings complete with four turbine-looking air vents. On the side of the driver lies a high-resolution 12.3-inch LCD screen housed within a high-tech visor to prevent reflections caused by sunlight or high-beam lights.

2. Huge Central Touchscreen

The central touchscreen measures 11.9 inches in portrait format. It comes with an electronic adjustment to avoid the glare caused by bright lightings as well.

3. New MBUX Infotainment System

The instruments of the AMG SL can be managed with the help of the new MBUX infotainment system. The software is a carryover from the latest S-Class. The tech includes a head-up display to keep the eyes of the driver focused on the road too.

4. Well-Sculptured Seats

The cabin of the convertible offers 2+2 seating from its well-sculptured and layered seats. The headrests are visually integrated into the backrest to keep their sporty proportions. The upholstery is available in either one- or two-tone Nappa leather and Dinamica microfiber adorned with diamond quilting and yellow or red topstitching.

5. Fluid Integration of Door Panels

Complementing the symmetrical theme of the dash are the door panels. The side panels almost look organically fused into the fixed architecture of the car. High-quality Burmester sound speakers are incorporated into the doors.
