The Brabus Mercedes-AMG G63 Invicto Can Take a Bullet for You

Giancarlo Perlas June 3, 2021

No matter how much power you are wielding or how influential you are, bullets will not yield for you unless you are inside the Brabus Invicto armored SUV based on the Mercedes-AMG G63. Recently, our fellow car enthusiast, Supercar Blondie, featured the auto in her vlog.

There are already a lot of armored G-Class SUVs out there. Our favorites so far are the Inkas Armored builds because their armoring is discreet and their works can easily pass as standard G-Class SUVs, except their obviously modified long-wheelbase versions, of course. Others are showier though like the Magna Steyr LAPV, which has heavier armoring but will certainly generate lots of unwanted attention towards you.

The Brabus Invicto may be flashy in terms of style but it can still blend in a road where luxury vehicles are very common like in Dubai. It’s not as gimmicky as a Maybach-inspired Ultimate HG but the subtle cosmetic enhancements like the blue LEDs, roof LED bar, and custom wheels are pretty good add-ons already.

The icing on the Brabus Invicto comes from its VR6 ballistic protection, which can be upgraded to VR6 Plus ERV (Explosion Resistant Vehicle). The leather in the seats is also swapped for military-grade fabric and an escape hatch is installed in the roof.

The extra protection comes at the cost of 2,205 lbs. (1,000 kg) additional weight for the SUV though. To compensate for it, Brabus had to install reinforcements for the frame as well as new shock absorbers, new springs, and new sway bars. The brakes are upgraded to a 402-mm rotor with six pistons in front too.

Lastly, the powertrain of the Mercedes-AMG G63 takes the Brabus B40S-800 performance kit that brings the power of the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 of the modified SUV to 789 hp and 737 lb-ft of torque. Despite the major engine boost, the massive auto can only accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 8.2 seconds.
